Journey number Four


 5th August 2023  Renene and I launch our waka back onto the troubled waters in search of a new journey of discovery and a new destination. Today we dip

our paddles back into the water once again as we start to navigate our way through unknown turbulence with a desire to safely and successfully make it to another destination. The tumour has started to sneak back on our horizon and we are grateful for the opportunity of a new targeted treatment for the specific genetic mutation in the tumour . 


First dose of a daily oral treatment . Each capsule NZ$ 110 so $440 to swallow each night . Going to test our bank balance unless we find some further support from ACC as insurer . 

Hoping to find another safe shore ahead of us so we can enjoy more sunrises and sunsets

D 33 - the weekend awaits and the fatigue has more negative effects So second last day of chemo done and dusted and final day of chemo on Monday. As the days have progressed the energy levels have definitely dropped . The walks have become shorter or leave me more tired and fatigued. Some of the enthusiasm for the Chipinge Trust book has been difficult to maintain. Lots of festive season activities and a stream of very welcome visitors have provided a greatly welcome distraction from the daily grind. Great to have an early morning visit from Chan, (Renene’s cousin) and her  husband Charlie. Brightened up my morning which was feeling quite miserable until they popped in with their always bright smiling demeanours and happy vibes . Truely blessed with our Whanau  The humour we have been able to find in our various hats we have found or been kindly provided by our great friend Minette Kuhn, has helped keep the chin up and a positive approach to the journey. The Weekend - Day 34 and D 35 - delayed missive “We apologise for the interruption in transmission. Normal service will resume as soon as possible “. A common finding in the early days of television in rural Zimbabwe. So some catching up to do but no excuses . I was busy doing fun things with my beautiful two ”growing up rapidly” young adults  on the weekend . Weekend was actually quite “health wise “ ropey to say the least and sometimes it is difficult to determine if it is the illness and the treatments or the medicines you end up taking because that’s what you believe is helping the side effects . Oh ! The quandaries of life! “Oh wo is me , Oh Wo is me”. Sounds like the wonderful play we went to at the Auckland POP UP globe . D - 24 - Xmas day

D - -24 - Xmas day MERRY XMAS everybody. Hope you had a fabulous day with family and friends Marjel was sorely missed  today by us all. Brendan due tomorrow - whoopee - family back as one for a short period. Short and sweet Missive  today. Woke early Breakfast of salmon, Philadelphia cheese and bagels .  Few gifts to spoil us all and then a lazy lunch by the swimming pool at Brother Pey. Quiet night back at Domain lodge building a trimaran out of LEGO We missed our Xmas lunch at Wobble Inn but seems Prop and Rina , Renene ‘s parents did Wobble In Xmas lunch justice with our amazing neighbours . Thank you to the Frear family for spoiling us with an amazing crayfish to adorn the table back home . I was promised they have kept me some Neighbours ensuring a festive Xmas for Prop and Rina at Wobble Inn Crayfish centre stage for Wobble Inn Xmas lunch.
