The Weekend - Day 34 and D 35 - delayed missive
“We apologise for the interruption in transmission. Normal service will resume as soon as possible “. A common finding in the early days of television in rural Zimbabwe.
So some catching up to do but no excuses . I was busy doing fun things with my beautiful two ”growing up rapidly” young adults on the weekend .
Weekend was actually quite “health wise “ ropey to say the least and sometimes it is difficult to determine if it is the illness and the treatments or the medicines you end up taking because that’s what you believe is helping the side effects . Oh ! The quandaries of life! “Oh wo is me , Oh Wo is me”.
Sounds like the wonderful play we went to at the Auckland POP UP globe .
Shakespeare no less! “Much Ado about Nothing “ but with a Pacific Island interpretation

We laughed and laughed as a family . Well recommend a trip to see. Not really a traditional play and I wonder how Shakespeare would have interpreted the way it was presented .

Renene and Brendan rose early Saturday to view the Corpse flower , unfortunately missing it in its full glory of the day before
We did however share the experience of this and the amazing Flame Lilies with Renene’s brother Pey
and Noeline walking through the Wintergardens and then a short walk down Lover’ lane .
We walked throUgh Lovers lane and back up Centennial walk revisiting some prior sculptures that were our focus earlier in the journey. Still need the “pillows” but certainly not needing “ the bad hair day comb”
Sunday we took a drive out to Whangaparoa and visited with Renene’s cousin Chan and husband Charlie and were spoilt to have all four “Second “cousins if Brendan and Courtney make it home to spend time reminiscing of the shared years of experience at the Arkles Bay property. I found it particularly poignant being at Ferry road property as so many shared experiences as adults with our wonderful children swing from high boughs of trees on amazing swings Charlie made , sliding down black plastic into muddy pond at bottom of paddocks and many shared meals in a home that has always exuded welcome comfort , hot meals and aroha for all our Whanau
Charlie and Chan deserve the new home they now intend to build on this wonderful property and I wish them a long happy life and regular Whanau visits to their new “castle in the clouds”.
Sunday night we took the risk of attending the movie “cats”. Always a risk not only because of the obviously poor reviews but also as Brendan had done a superb role as “RUM TUM TUGGER” in the stage show in Whakatane
The moral of the story .” Probably go with your gut feel” though the post show review and dissection probably was entertainment in itself.
