“Man flu” day

Day 9 - a dose of “Man flu”.

Probably the most @rubbish” day of journey so far. Woke early and nausea an issue at 05hoo. First time to have to electively take two different anti nausea meds plus paracetamol and hide in bed . Up reasonably early as this week our radiation is scheduled in earlier times of the morning. Tea and toast about as much as I could tolerate. Acute heart burn and reflux made the radiation attendance an uncomfortable experience. Recovered to our room sucked on some antacids and acidex for symptom relief.
“take your medicine”

and sat for a cup of tea on bench in garden of Domain Lodge.

Wonderful facility we have access to here.

Spent few hours in upstairs lounge writing a few pages for a history of our early private practice and subsequent  Cottage hospital development in rural Zimbabwe. Eventually crashed on bed for whole afternoon .  In the South African language Afrikaans they say “ Klein serig”.

Renene persuaded new I should at least get “out and smell the daisies” so we took a short walk into the domain to see the development going up for Xmas in park.

A lone 71-year-old totara stands on Auckland Domain's Seagull Hill. Many people pass by every day without giving it a thought. But it is a living witness to history - war and peace, regimes, seasons and tides.https://www.nzherald.co.nz/aucklander/news/article.cfm?c_id=1503378&objectid=11017967

Large stage develops daily on our walks
A day of quiet consideration of how “small “ my journey and symptoms are when one contemplates the unbelievable emotional and grief that will be being experienced by all who have been touched by the significant disaster on Whaakari , White Island in Whakatane. Our old stomping ground and visible to us daily from our home for 12 years. Blessed to have visited and experienced it in safety yet a completely different outcome for many poor souls yesterday. Thoughts and prayers go out to all those with their burden of grief
