Day 11 -“ huff and puff - up and down dales”

Day 11 -“ huff and puff - up and down dales”
An explorative day today and we may have bitten off more than we could reasonably chew. Completed the radiation in morning, met for tea with other residents and a brief chat with Cancer support nurse.

Found a  “bitter pill” which would be hard to swallow

Then we headed for the Parnell village and the beach! We found a nice path down through the bush in the Domain and then traversed a couple of small parks. The challenge was a number of steep descent and subsequent climbs up the hills and down the dales. Certainly a physical challenge for me and a slow but steady pace and regular stops to suck in some oxygen required. We aimed for the Parnell Rose Gardens and bonus was we ended up with an unexpected view over the harbour towards North Head and Rangitoto. Bonus for me to be able to contemplate the ocean and to see some yachts sailing back under full spinnaker returning to “ base”.

The roses were all in bloom and yet surprisingly little perfume to be detected.

We had set our lunch aspirations on a cafe Ciagali based on prior experience but arrived and were “ underwhelmed so had a iced coffee and walked back towards the Parnell Village. Renene has had the opportunity to do a prior exploration of the village and a much better choice of food and venue was found. Amazing what one finds secreted in corners of Auckland. The walk through the suburban streets and the little village were a delight in themselves. The trip back to base was much flatter more round about route which took us back through the Domain and past the Museum.

Batteries “ kaput” had to have a definite rest up on the bed
