D - 28 - Return to reality.

So today back to the reality of our travel through troubled waters on our “waka”. Short trip back from Paeroa to our unit here at Domain Lodge. Apprehensive about the upcoming week of chemotherapy. Big and long day tomorrow with recipe of two drugs over aroun 8 hours and 5 litres fluids. I have been a bit nauseous today and put that down to the apprehension and anticipation. Sure it has nothing to do with the “odd beer and whisky” consumed as part of yesterday’s celebration.

Son Brendan gifted Lewis and I a great single malt so had to try it.!!!!

Renene and I will get through this week together as we did the first week and go looking for some
“ bright spots” to help us through. There must be more we can discover hidden in the environment around us .


Like the creeper has made its steady progress to the top of this structure we will persevere though this journey withe the intent of reaching our goal of successful treatment 

“Onward and upward”

D - 41 -  Baby and me and  last date “ - We are out of here heading for treatment vacation. Last “Hat” for this cycle So we have crossed the final hurdle of this current treatment cycle. I attended my last radiation today and we kept this “hat” and dress code for this final day. A celebration and an indication of the start of our “holiday from treatment”. In an earlier post I described the “machine 6” that has become part and parcel of my everyday life,  but for  a few, for six weeks now. One of the things I described was the unusual shape of the filter for the radiation when it was setting up to start the treatment above my chest. It resembled the “baby doll”. Well today I lay on the bench , asked my parents , Bill and Mar Jel , to be beside me in spirit, and we all said good- bye to the “baby”. Journey number Four

 5th August 2023  Renene and I launch our waka back onto the troubled waters in search of a new journey of discovery and a new destination. Today we dip our paddles back into the water once again as we start to navigate our way through unknown turbulence with a desire to safely and successfully make it to another destination. The tumour has started to sneak back on our horizon and we are grateful for the opportunity of a new targeted treatment for the specific genetic mutation in the tumour .  First dose of a daily oral treatment . Each capsule NZ$ 110 so $440 to swallow each night . Going to test our bank balance unless we find some further support from ACC as insurer .  Hoping to find another safe shore ahead of us so we can enjoy more sunrises and sunsets
